Expérience unique
Dick Frizzell's work is to be found in collections, both private and public, most notably in Christchurch Art Gallery, The Chartwell Collection, Auckland Art Gallery and Te Papa, Museum of New Zealand.

Description

Artist, Dick Frizzell’s work is known to be exuberant, inventive and often characterised by his ironic sense of humour, as he deliberately mixes up high and low art, to create a style uniquely his own.

Dick explores an endlessly inventive range of subject matter and styles: faux naive New Zealand landscapes, figurative still life, comic book characters and many a witty parody of modernist abstraction.

We love Dick’s work and have invited him to come to Huka Lodge to share his techniques with guests who would like to learn to paint Frizzell-style. Spending time with Dick is always fun, energising and very entertaining. This hands-on tutored painting experience includes a full day of painting on the Saturday.

His renowned skill in handling paint, combined with his desire to help others to explore their creativity, offers a unique opportunity for all our guests who come along and join Dick Frizzell’s painting class at Huka Lodge.
