Throughout 2018, Relais & Châteaux celebrate Food for Change in partnership with Slow Food to combat climate change and protect biodiversity. Our food system is responsible for 30% of greenhouse gas emissions. Relais & Châteaux members have a driving desire to protect and promote the richness and diversity of the world’s cuisine and traditions of hospitality. They are committed to preserving local heritage and the environment, as encompassed in the Vision presented at the UNESCO in November 2014. By inspiring people around the world to be more mindful about food, Relais & Châteaux is paying tribute to Earth’s bounty. Relais & Châteaux will take part in three festivals: Slow Food Nations (Colorado, USA in July), Terra Madre (Torino, Italy in September) and Slow Food Market (Zürich, Switzerland in November). Relais & Châteaux also initiate a call to action for its chefs to create Menus for Change ; honoring local & seasonal vegetables, in a global festival from October 4-7.
