Join leading New Zealand food personality, Otahuna Executive Chef Jimmy McIntyre, for one exceptional weekend celebrating all things gastronomic.


On 30 June, Otahuna will be welcoming guests for its first ever Gourmet Getaway. Upon arrival guests will enjoy a 3-hour, demonstration-style cooking class with Executive Chef Jimmy McIntyre who will just have returned from exploring renowned Michelin-starred kitchens in France and Italy. Recipes will be provided for all dishes prepared along with a signed copy of Otahuna's cookbook, For the Love of a Place.

After an afternoon spent with Jimmy in the Otahuna Kitchen, guests will savour pre-dinner drinks and canapes in the Drawing Room before an exquisite degustation dinner - comprised of 5 courses prepared during the afternoon lesson. Dinner will be served at the table in Otahuna's grand Dining Room with its original 1895 wallpaper and carved inglenook fireplace. Each course will be paired with a premium New Zealand wine from the Lodge Cellar.

Tariff for 2 people: $1595 (incl. GST). Guests who wish to spend additional consecutive nights may reserve at the preferential rate of $1395 (incl. GST) per night. The first 2 reservations will enjoy the option of a complimentary upgrade to one of Otahuna's Master Suites.

Following a night in one of Otahuna's seven luxurious suites, guests will enjoy at their leisure a delicious cooked breakfast with jams, preserves and honey sourced from the property. Owner Miles Refo will then lead a late morning "gumboot tour" of the property's 30 acres of decorative and productive gardens, discussing Otahuna's continued restoration over the last decade and the efforts that go into maintaining it.
